Dr. Poon: My Ste. Anne's Special Sandwich

If there was one thing that I remember from my first trip to Ste. Anne's spa it was the sandwiches we had during our afternoon tea. They were served with crusty bread and I really wanted to have that again but make it fit within my day to day life within the Dr. Poon diet. So this is what I can up with.

Veronica's Ste. Anne's Special

Ingredients:
  • 1 Slice Powerflax Bread (*purchased thou Ontario Store - inside Dr. Poon's Office)
  • Cucumber Slices
  • 95% Kraft Fat-Free Cream Cheese
  • Alfalfa Sprouts

Directions:

  1. Defrost bread. Spread a tbsp cream cheese onto bread.
  2. Add alfalfa sprouts and sliced cucumbers.
  3. ENJOY!

This truly is a treat. I love it and had it as one of my lunches. With a nice tall glass of cucumber water you too will think you've been to the spa. Okay so maybe you need to book yourself in to the spa. Just go ahead and do it.

Hi Veronica,

I came across your blog as I searched for information on Dr. Poon. I've been referred to the program by my family doctor. I guess I'm just looking for some re-assurance that the program is worthwile. I've done Weight Watchers, and it works like all other weightloss programs, but I'm just tired of counting!!

I'll keep reading your blog, but off the bat, what do you like about the program and what don't you like? Is it easy to follow, especially with family members who aren't willing to change their eating habits?

I'm Portuguese, so food is HUGE at our house... lots of bread! LOL

You can email me at magda.pavao@rogers.com

I'd appreciate any information!

@ Miss Maggy - I too am Portuguese. Well, I was born here in Canada so I consider myself Canadian with Portuguese parents. I do speak it and cook it. I know we all like to celebrate and eat. That's what's part of being Portuguese. lol

You have some great questions. Just remember everyone is different but for myself I love this program because I can eat as much as I want (with keeping with what's allowed) and still live my very crazy busy life. I own a floral business, have 2 boys and a hubby. The only person on this lifestyle change is myself. I try and cook meals that work with my family. One doesn't eat meat and is picky, the other will not eat salad and it goes on and on. You just have to find something that will work with you own family.

The other thing I am happy about is that there are no needles, meds or anything that he (the doctor) needs to put into your body. He doesn't even touch you at all. You are eatting real food and no injecting yourself with something you don't even know what's in.

Just as long as you are serious about finally taking off the weight then you can totally do this.

Good Luck and keep at it.

Hi Veronica,

Can you please send me the meal plan victoria.luciani@yahoo.ca - Thanks!
Also - can you eat marshmallows in phase 1? I saw a recipe that had marshmallows and claimed it was for phase 1 - but u are the expert :)
I tried your baked meringues and they were amazing - I cant really stomach the cookies that are at the office - or the bread for that matter.

@ Victoria - There are marshmellows that they sell in the Poon store that you can eat on Phase 1. I have tried them and think they are really good.

Thanks for the feedback. I love them too. I have to make a batch for myself this week sometime.

I will have to come up with a cookie recipe soon. The fall is all about baking because the summer is all about spending time with the family.
